Please Stop Talking

With so much to learn, we can end up feeling overloaded with information.

Starting a relationship with a new client is always exciting. Listening to their needs helps me to determine how we will go about selling their home, or if it is a buyer, how aggressively we will be pursuing listings that are on the market. The process is different for sellers versus buyers, but one commonality is the importance of communication. There needs to be a LOT of communication for things to go smooth. During my explanation of the Residential Lease Agreement & Residential Purchase Agreement, I often get the feeling that the client may be thinking “please stop talking”, “I have a question about four things you just mentioned”. This is why it is important to stop every once and a while and ask straight out if they have any questions or need examples. Oftentimes they will, and that leads into ancillary subjects that ultimately make up the big picture, which is what I want them to see. Questions or no questions, we will get there.

As a Top Performing Realtor in the Sacramento/Roseville/Elk Grove region, I try to not just be a drive-through agent. As mentioned before in another blog, I thoroughly think about every aspect of the real estate experience. Buying and selling real estate is a necessity for a lot of people, and just like the guy who invented the magazine rack net to the toilet so many years ago, I try to make this neccessary experience enjoyable and educational.

The few times when I wished that someone would please stop talking were when that person was clearly just going on and on because they appeared to like the sound of their own voice. Any reader reading this right now will know what I am talking about. There is a lot to go over in the purchase and listing agreement and the more my clients understand about the process, the better experience they have.
